Does mud fever get to a point where your horse starts limping? My mare is recently starting to limp on her leg that has it, there's not sign of other lameness in her leg. Is there also something like a tube paste tranquelizer that I could give her when I try to pull off the scabbies? I'm trying to get my mother to take her to the vet, but she won't because it's "not bad enough", but if lameness is abnormal, my uncle said he'll haul my horse for me.

I have seen a few that it got that bad....the one needed antibiotics to get over it. Another it turned out to be something else, after treatments of antibiotics (oral and creams) didnt work the vet biopsied the scabs and the owner found out it was something different and are now treating it. Our own mare is prone to things and her leg had swelled and she was off...we softened and picked the scabs and now she is fine again.

my arab used to be bothered with mud fever a lot. I used a product called Herbal Solution and it cleared things up very very fast.
