OK first of all if you are 300 lbs you should not be riding a miniature horse as you may ( will ) cause damage to her fragile back. Also the equine is a herbivore which means they only eat plants, so the reason she isn't eating your beef is because her teeth are not made for chewing meat and it isn't appetizing to her because she isn't a carnivore. your best bet is to feed her what she likes best.... forage and granules.... ( hay and/or grass and oats and/or grain. )

man or woman, 300 lbs is too much for a mini horse. All horses have a weight limit, especially the smaller ones.

okay so pretty much minis should NEVER be ridden by anyone other than small children and horses should NEVER be fed meat products! they are herbivores! and a horse can only safely carry 1/3 its body weight without doing damage to itself
if your this ignorant to horses and horse care you really should not be owning a horse because - tough but true- ull be ridding that mini one day and shell fall under you and you will squash her
so im sorry but either never ride her again and learn how to properly care for her or sell her to someone that understands basic horsecare

Dude, slow your roll and back off the chick. Any person who takes a moment to think about this will know its just a joke. I mean common the horse would lay down/ collapse before it would carry that kind of weight. And you know, maybe everyone ought to take a moment to just breath and think about what was said. Yeah maybe she should have thought about people becoming uptight about this, but she's a teenager. She's still learning and part of learning is making mistakes. Also I know people who are 300 lbs and ride 18 hh draft horses. They know they're fat and don't need people to remind them off it. It just makes them feel a whole lot worse. Plus some people can't help their weight because of their bone structure. My uncle had an abnormally large chest and couldn't get his weight under 350 because of it. In the end it killed him.
And no I wouldn't say something back to someone who offends me because most of the time it leads to stuff like this. Tempers flaring, angry words, rudeness. The world has enough of that without people like me adding to it. I would probably just tell them that yes that offends me, why it offends, and then just leave well enough alone.
This was meant to be a joke between friends, and probably should have stayed that way, but live and learn then give love.
I do agree with Quincy though, pretty funny... :)

I would suggest not to give them meat (horses don't eat meat) My horses seem underweight, too and i give them rice bran and vintage victory morning and night, they also get hay stretcher for lunch, I would consider talking to a vet or whoever sells you your horses food about how you should up their grain. I also don't think you should try to ride the horse because of your weight. I would try to loose weight, or an easier solution, drive the mini (they can pull more than they carry) and maybe ride a larger horse. I don't want to hurt your feelings about your weight, because I hate it when people comment on my weight, so no hard feelings. I wish you luck with your mini! :D

Sorry but I kinda over reacted. I agree it's a joke. I get that, but still, it's not funny and they should consider the results of people's thoughts. Also, maybe just do it on each other's barn wall's? I apologize and now thinking about it, it's obiously a joke....

ok i get its a joke but still, i didnt exactly think that it was funny, if you thought it was go ahead, but im just really sorta uptight about this because my mom kept her horse at a barn and the ppl never feed it well and started to work her horse really hard and she never knew until one of her friends told her and then when i sold my mini horse the lady there never toke care of him and he was really dirty and never got excirse and the other horse he was with beat him up, so im just uptight about this cuz r horses were abused and i really dont find the topic funny at all. (o and i wasnt really trying to make fun of fat people... my best friend is like 300lbs so yea)

Good Gravey this got out of hand huh? It was obviously a joke. After a few minutes of thinking about it, if this had in fact been something that was happening I'm sure someone would have been called on it. I think it's kind of funny to read how people react. It's like reading a long thread on a gaming messege board...always entertaining.

I don't actually find the joke it's self funny, but I find some people's reactions hililarious. reminds me of when someone at my barn drew a horse on our chalk board and then my friends dad wrote a question asking waht is was, we all acted stupid and wrote dumb answers like cow, llama, lamp, ect. then someone came along and wrote on their calling us stupid lol. No sense of humor lol

oh and p.s. I have seen a horse eat a chicken strip, it was quite odd. but yeah he just ate it without a second thought.

my horses have eaten meat before we where barbacuing outside and my horses (one of them figured out how to open the gate) they came over and at all of the hamberger paddy's that where on the plate there where like 20-25 paddy's.(i was inside at the time getting the stuff to go with the paddy's) when i came out i chased them all back into there pasture but they had eaten them all without a second thought. it was really funny just because horses dont ushually eat meat.

i find this post very funny. the question wasnt really that funny but just the way some people reacted even after finding out that it was a joke. i was shocked and angry the first time i read it but then i read it like 4 more times and it became funny once i realized it was a joke and nothing was hurt. except for some peoples fealings who took it to seriously. but i do agree that in the future a post like this thats between two people should go on the other persons wall not in Q-A where everyone can see it.
