I am having trouble finding a bit for my horse. I just bought a 5 year old Thoroughbreed Mare. At the canter she does this weird thing with her head, where she lifts it and turns it in. I had this very good trainer watch me and she said it was nothing with my seat, balance, or inter-ference. I know I have soft hands so I know i'm not hanging on her. Her teeth have been done recently and I've been working on leg yeilds with her for bending and balance. I just can't seem to find a bit. I've been riding her in a snaffle, I've tried some others but can't fine the one thats for her... I used to use a rubber bit on my first horse, also a mare who needed soft hands.. But before I went out and bought one I wanted to know if there was any others I should concider.

How many people out there are all for bringing slaughter back into our country? There are so many horses out there starving or being hauled in semi trailers to Canada and Mexico. Don't the anti-slaughter people see that what went into effect is even more of a cruelty to the horses than slaughter? I just want to know if there is anyone else out there that gets really angry at this reality.

ok, my parents make me wear a helmet any time i am on the back of a horse, about 4 months ago (b4 aspen got hurt) one of my parents friends was riding a very very green broke horse, and got thrown, and the horse was running free in an open area with all the tack on, so i hoped on my horse aspen (bareback and only with a hlater and lead rope) and galloped towards the horse, after about an hour of pretty much cutting and running around like a mad man a caught the horse (all the while without a helmet) well my parents are'nt budging, even tho i have proved i am a good rider (i am the only one in the family who even knows how to ride) who do you think is right?? i wear a helmet when i jump and tuff but i think if i am just palying around that i should be aloud to not wear one, your opinions?

my horse moonlight minute is acting up now. i got her to stop kicking but now when i get on her she fights. im just doing small jumps trying to settle back down on her. im allowed to ride her now. anyway my bf hit her i guess when she kicked him or something so now she is fighting me. i know lunging is a good idea but how long should i lung her? like half an hour? longeR? shorter? what should i make her do? im thinking i should do join up wit her. that always works for me. what do you think? to me i think doing join up with her is my best bet in getting her to calm down and have fun with me and riding.

I am desperate to say the least....so I am open for any suggestions!!! I have a beautiful, talented Andalusian mare. She is 7 years old. She lives outside, plenty of time to play and have fun. We have been doing pretty good with our training, she is a bit marish and opinionated, but for the most part, I could handle her. To make a long story short, when she doesn't want to work, she will kick out and try to rear, but once you convince her to go, there she kind of goes "ok, alright... I go". She had the winter off, and I started her back in the spring. I put her on Regumate because last year, before we had to go to a clinic or a lesson, I saw that by giving her regumate 10 days before the event, she was awesome!! So.... the first clinic of the year comes, so I started her on Regumate, she was doing great, we needed to work on a few things but she was responsive. We go to the clinic, and all hell breaks loose (The clinic happened at my trainer's barn. This is a barn where my…

Is it just me or does anyone else hate it when non-horsepeople say horseback riding is easy and that it is just sitting on the horses back when it isnt?
