I am very interested in becoming an Equine Massage Therapist. I am in high school at the moment doing a program called running start that allows me to do my junior and senior year at a college so I will graduate with my AA so I will be two years ahead. After I graduate I want to transfer to a larger accredited college and get a Major that will help me on my way to a good career in Equine Massage. I have heard of people getting majors in Equine Studies but I am wondering if there are any other degrees that would be helpful for getting into the career successfully. Would a degree such as Animal Science work? I plan to get my Bachelors in something that would apply to Equine Massage Therapy and then get a certificate in Equine Massage afterwards. Has anyone done this? Or know someone who has done this? I'm going to talk to my councilor but I was hoping to get something from all of you as well (: All suggestions are welcome

I've already liked Equestrian Life on facebook (and my little sidebar on here from facebook says I've liked it) but I've never gotten the points for it, nor does it have that "achievement" checked off... How can I fix that?

I have a three year old quarter horse mare. She has her good days but a lot of the time she rears on the lunge line. She only does it going 1 direction but she is sound and is not in pain. She also sometimes seems to "forget" her training for a week or so then goes back to normal. She catches easy but walks way to close to more when I'm leading her so I stop and make her get back. I also use a rope halter for the extra control. When we ride she has never bucked even when being broke and has never reared. But she has trouble stoping, backing up, and she bites when I flex her. She had only bolted once but it was because her tooth was messed up I think. I need some more exersises to gain more respect. I currently don't have access to a round pen but am getting one soon any suggestions would be great!

Who is your favorite to win today's Preakness? Remember the track is wet, but it hasn't rained real hard.

I am looking for a 3rd horse. I fox hunt and I'm a hunter jumper and would like a horse who could do one of those. I would also like a horse who could event because I would really love to start eventing. I can't spend more than $1,500. And i live outside of Augusta, Georgia and i don't want to travel that far. Please contact me if you have a horse or know someone who does.

I'm pretty sure I asked this question last year, but seeing as we have some new people, I figured I'd ask again. Does anyone know of a spray or even paste repellent for horses that kill/repel no see ums(midges)? my horses are being attacked earlier than normal this year. My horse has lines across his chest, bites in his belly button and around his private area. I haven't found a light sheet that doesn't make him sweat and has small enough meshing to keep them away. Plus sheets don't cover everything. I really wish Swat made a spray, this seems to be one of the few things that helps keep them off and it helps the itchiness. I've tried about 7 different sprays, but I have to be careful because my horse is allergic to some ingredients. I've tried some natural remedies as well, those haven't helped. Taking him off pasture isn't an option. And even when we rotate from day and night pasture times, he still gets bit.

i have a question for all of you and i need opinions too. my horse is between 25-30 years old. last winter he had a very hard time moving around. i tried to get him out as much as i can depends on the weather. he on joint supplement and msm. when the weather started to clear up we move him to a bigger pasture with an run in shed. he is moving around better and one day he was cantering up to see me when i was heading towards to barn to feed him. he acts like a young horse again. Except one day he fell over onto his back and couldnt get up. my pap had to help him up. I was just wondering if he will be in pain again this winter. Should i concern putting him to sleep? my bank account is getting tight since i will be losing my job and my stables job doesnt total pay for everything unless i get another job which i am trying to find one. but my main concern is my horse. i am thinking he had a full life. I really dont like the idea of selling him cause i am afraid he will not have a good home…
