Video Transcript

Hello, my name is Chelsey Sawtell, Primary Riding Instructor at Black Friar Farm in Kingston Springs, Tennessee. And today, we will be discussing the attire for cross country of three day eventing. The cross country phase of three day eventing is a favorite of many. It's time to show your team spirits, so to speak. Brightly colored saddle pads, horse boots with bands and brightly colored tape and multi colored helmet covers are always present. A cross country vest is one of the most important things you can wear on cross country. It protects your chest from any kind of object should you come off during the cross country phase. Clean tall boots and britches of any color are allowed. Shirts with sleeves and a safety approved headgear is required. The one that you will find in eventing that you do not find in many other disciplines is the medical arm band. This is required in both jumping phases of eventing and without it, you cannot enter the ring. The cross country phase of eventing can be exhilarating. Horse and rider gallop over natural terrain, jumping obstacles into water, out of water, ditches, banks and other obstacles found in nature. In closing, the cross country phase of eventing requires that the rider wear tall boots, britches of rider's color choice, shirt with sleeves, cross country vest, medical armband and approved safety helmet and of course, show your team spirit and wear those colors.
