Horse owners seeking the best possible massage therapist should rely on word of mouth and Internet research as well as observing how the horse interacts with potential therapists and what level of skill the therapist exhibits in person. Find out how to spot a good therapist in this video on equine kinesiology.
Hello, my name is Jennifer Oliver, and I'm an equine massage therapist, and the question is, what should you look for in an equine massage therapist and what, where, and how should you find one? Like I said, the best way in my opinion, to find a good equine massage therapist is word of mouth. But if that's not working, you know, the Internet is always a great tool, and how do you know if they're good or not? You know, just kind of listen to your horse, you know, see how your horse responds to what they're doing. You want someone who's confident because horses can most certainly sense that confidence in themselves and you know, and it really, really will come off on the horse if they do have that confidence with what they're doing. As far as networks and stuff like that go, I don't know of any equine massage network, you can just like I said, Google, you know, the Internet is a great tool and should be utilized. And I also believe that it's very important that an equine massage therapist is certified in what they're doing, because you just want them to have some schooling and some knowledge of their craft, you know, I do think that massage as a technique is very innate, it's like a talent that you're going to have, but you know, anyone can have a talent, but you need someone to kind of hone in those skills to really get the best effects.
