Hi, I'm Patty Fiedler, Level 3 ARI instructor and trainer, and today I'm going to give you some tips on items I like to have for first aid kits for trail riding. When you go out on a trial you want to think of emergency situations. The basic items that you can have that you can carry safely on the trail that will enable you to either take care of an emergency for your horse and for yourself. You want to think about things such as bandages for you, bandages for your horse. One simple bandage, a gauze can utilize for both of you. If you have a polar wrap that also can be utilized for both the human as well as the equine. You want to have something to pick out their feet so if they step on something if all the sudden they became lame, you would have. They have nice folding hoof knives and so forth that you can put right into your first aid kit. I always like to have something for insect bites. I also like to have bug repellent. Depending on where you're riding and what area you're in you may need something for bugs. Think about this for your horse as well as for yourself. You can get all natural fly sprays that can be used on a human as well as your horse. You also want to make sure that you have a cell phone in that first aid kit. I don't like to put it on the horse because if something was to happen to you while you're riding, you want to have it on your body. That's some tips for a first aid kit for trail riding. And I'm Patty Fiedler, Amber Glen Equestrian Center in Pinellas Park.
