A typical day of a jockey can sometimes start anywhere between five am and six am in the morning. And what people don't know is that, that jockeys also ride horses during the training hours. Not that we are required to but it's a very competitive business so we go out in the mornings and for no charge we get on horses for our clients and potential clients to maintain and establish new relationships. So basically my day as a jockey would start perhaps I might be on my first horse by five thirty in the morning. Horse training generally goes from five thirty in the morning till ten am. At that point there's a couple of hours there that would be for some jockeys might take a little nap or relaxation before the races start. Unfortunately I wasn't so lucky as I had to get my weights ready to, I had to get my weight down to ride the races for that day for my weight assignments. So I had to reduce. So so far I mean, my day started at anywhere from like five thirty to ten, now I'm in the sweat box getting ready for my rides and getting my weight down. The races generally last anywhere from one to six pm. So depending on how many races I may ride that day, I'm pretty much in the jockey's room all day until, until the races are over. Once the races are over we are already looking at a solid twelve hour day that a jockey has to put in and there's five racing, generally five racing days a week at a racetrack. But we still train seven days a week so pretty much a jockey puts in a pretty good week, a pretty full week. So you can see that a jockey's schedule is more then just showing up for the races in the afternoon.
