Racing rules for horse jockeys require the jockeys to maintain a fairly straight path during the race and not knock another jockey off stride. Avoid being disqualified or suspended from horse racing for crossing another jockey's path with advice from a former professional jockey in this free video on jockeys.
Some of the rules for riding races in the actual races, jockeys are required to maintain a path, not just make any sharp sudden turns that could put somebody in danger. So, it is as a jockey you have to maintain pretty much a straight course. If you are going to change course, you have to be certain that you have that clearance. That you are not going to cross over on someone's path. And put them in any danger. Also, you have to be careful not to knock someone off stride. If you knock someone off stride and what I mean by that is by a sharp bump that could interfere with a horse's, another horse's action or take its room away, that you could be disqualified. As a jockey you could be disqualified or suspended or both. The stewards, races are evaluated, different camera angles. There's different men called patrol judges that are also observing the race as it's running live. Every race is taped and recorded, different camera angles and studied. If there is any infraction or any foul play by a jockey, that jockey can be disqualified and or suspended, fined etcetera.
