Bridles and bits used on colts are either a Hackamore or a Bosal, and they are used to train young horses the basics of stopping on command. Find the right bridles for the job with helpful advice in this video on riding and caring for horses.
When we start our colts, we start them in something called a Hackamore or this is, it's also called a Bosal. There's different types. Some are braided leather all the way around and are soft and can be, can bend. This is, happens to be aluminum and it's more rigid, and because it is a little more rigid, for the babies, I wrap the nose piece and the, the cheek pieces down here, just to take a little of the sting out of it and make it a little more comfortable for 'em. We also use this to teach whoa to our horses and it's very, very important thing to teach 'em in case you do get in trouble while you're breaking 'em. They at least know whoa and you can get 'em stopped and hopefully get yourself out of trouble. But this works off of the bridge of their nose. It works off of their, the jaw bones underneath the chin.
