The German Martingale bridle attaches to the girth and uses a pulley-type system to pull on the shanks first. Use a German Martingale to help soften a horse with helpful advice in this video on riding and caring for horses.
One of the other tools that I use to soften and supple up a horse is a German Martingale. And this works by taking this part here and putting it over your horses head and down the neck, just like the regular Martingale. This will attach to your girth and then these ropes here go through the shanks on your, on the end of your bit and will snap back to D-rings that are sewn into the reigns of your, of your bridle. And when it, when it's working correctly, these ropes will pull on the shanks first, kind of almost in a, like a pulley fashion. And when they, when your horse gives off of these, it releases to the regular reign and then there's, it's like riding them with nothing. And I like this just because I, I like this over regular draw ring because your horses kind of get dependent, I think, on a draw ring, and these work, this will work more like a, like a regular, like a regular bridle like there's nothing on it.
