With reining, when you're going to show your horse, there's a lot of finesse and a lot of showmanship involved in this sport. It takes years and years and years to build that kind of finesse and understanding in how to show a horse. What you're looking for is a horse that's patient and responsive and willingfully guided. A horse that looks comfortable at the job that they're doing. You also look at your horse as a whole. That ears that are pinned flat against their neck or horses that wring their tail and use their tail or kick at the riders leg is looked at as being a very negative thing.
