Some good qualities found in a top rider include having respect for other riders, respect for the horse and respect for the sport. Differentiate between a simply talented rider and a high-quality rider with helpful tips from an experienced Grand Prix rider in this video on horseback riding.
And what makes a great rider a great rider opposed to somebody who has the same ability which there's many top riders that never make it or get any recognition. In my opinion is, first and foremost, you have to have respect for the people that have accomplished more than you, that were there before you. Because what that does is that makes the people that are masters of this sport want to really help you in your quest to be the best. You really must respect the sport. And the riders that respect it know who's done what, appreciate it. Those will be the riders that will get the good horses, will get the good owners. An arrogant, talented rider, for me, means nothing, there's a million of them. And the most important thing is make people your peers. The only thing that really you remember, no one remembers, yeah you remember the gold medals and you remember the world championships and stuff like that but the thing that people remember the most is the respect of your peers. The Rodrigo Pessoa and the Ludger Beerbaums and I can go on and on. They have the respect of every rider because they've been doing it for so many years their attitude is great. They're hungry. Those are the things that separate the really elite from ones that never make it.
