It is important to feed a horse with Cushing's disease a diet high in fiber and low in carbohydrates. Hay should be the staple of this diet. Feeds with molasses and texture feeds with oats and corn are not good for a horse with Cushing's. Other feed stuffs that can be added to the diet are flax seed oil and stabilized rice bran. Supplements that could be advantageous to a horse with Cushing's would be magnesium and chromium. Medications such as seprahididine and pergoline may also be beneficial to supplement your horse. Tests can be run by your veterinarian to pick one. And as with all horses fresh clean water is a must.
