Hello, my name is Nancy Connolly and I'm owner of HorsePower Hanoverian based here in Vancouver, Washington. I'm here to speak with you today about why breed the Hanoverian. This is something that's easy for me to talk about, we've been breeding Hanoverians here for about 15 years and the breed has been around for 400 years. People ask a lot what makes that breed special, why do you like to breed this particular horse? The answer to that really is in the performance of the horse and the character of the horse. When I look across and say whether I'd rather breed this horse or another, the Hanoverian is noted for a very noble character, a very harmonious frame and quite frankly they're very easy to work with. They are big horses, sturdy horses but have been bred for years to deliver at the end of the day and also be pretty obedient horses that can make partners for life. Each Hanoverian as you breed them and each of the bloodlines have certain characteristics and even yes quite frankly, personalities that you can look at them and say that Hanoverian is out of this particular bloodline. The characteristics are very harmonious as you look at each different bloodline within the system. Those bloodlines then typify when you look at a horse, maybe one bloodline has got a little bit longer neck, a little bit more eloquent frame, another bloodline within the Hanoverian breed has a strong hind quarter. So that when someone calls me here at HorsePower Farm Hanoverians and says I'm looking for a horse to do ABC, I want them to jump, I want them to do dressage, I can not only recommend a horse for them, but because the Hanoverian breed is very characteristically built on each bloodline, I can also recommend certain bloodlines for them that should truly and tested over the years perform and deliver a great partner for them for the rest of their life.
