When treating lacerations, it is important to first clean the area with a mild soap or alcohol. Afterwards, it's important to evaluate how deep the cut is and depending on that, you may or may not need to seek veterinary care. For moderate lacerations, application of ointments that promote healing maybe all you need. A possible topical ointment for lacerations maybe Derma Gel or Pheromone. Animals may obtains lacerations from the fences, from kicks from other horses and bites.
