Care for horse saddles by using a basic glycerin soap on a damp sponge to rub all over the saddle, conditioning the saddle occasionally and cleaning the stirrups with a towel. Clean the silver parts of saddle stirrups with silver cleaner and instructions from an equestrian team head coach in this video on equestrian supplies.
Caring for your saddle is very important in order to keep your saddle in good shape and ensure that it lasts for a long time. To begin with you'll want a basic glycerin soap. And this is something you can use everyday after you ride to help keep your saddle clean. I'm going to have a damp sponge, not too wet, water isn't good for your tack. Just a little bit of soap and just going to start to rub all over the saddle, making sure I get in to every crevice, paying special attention to my stirrup leather. We don't want these to erode and break. We can also lift up the flap and get the billets for the girth. And the next step, and you can do this less often, is to condition your saddle. So now I'm just going to rinse out my sponge, squeeze it out, use just a basic saddle conditioner. This is a good idea if your leather starts to look a little bit dry, puts a little bit of moisture back in to the leather, and again you can apply the conditioner all over. And the last thing you can do to help keep your saddle in good shape, and help keep everything looking clean is to take a towel and you can clean your stirrups You could also take some silver cleaner and clean the silver parts of the stirrup. And you can also use the towel to wipe off any excess soap or water that's left on the saddle.
