Hello, my name is Rebekah Larimer and I'm an internationally certified horse trainer and instructor. And today I'm going to tell you about lunge lessons. Lunging is where you have a ground person and the horse going around them on a circle on a lunge line or a long rope. And the lunge lesson itself specifically focuses on the rider. The rider is able to focus on themselves, where are their seat, their legs, their position for their hands and become independent in those aids, from your seat, your legs, and your hands. All professional riders and everyone should ask for a lunge lesson as often as possible, to make sure we are moving with our horses and not interfering with them in any movements that we ask for them to do, to perform. And so this is the benefit of the lunge lesson.
