Hi I'm Cyrus Confectioner, secretary of Calcutta Polo Club, one of the oldest polo clubs in the world, just introducing you to the very specific requirements which one has to have while playing polo on the person, on the horse and for playing the game. The helmet is one of the most important facets in the sport. This which you see over here has its nylon padding to make the chin and the other area comfortable. This helmet is very similar to helmets which are used in cricket or any other sport, safe for its distinguishing type of pattern. It has got these vents to let air in, to keep the head cool. It has a padding inside, you know so that any impact is soft on the head and there are different shapes and different types made from different materials all over the world. The basic idea is that it should offer a solid protection in case a ball or a mallet or if someone falls off the horse. The USPA recommends wearing a helmet with an attached face mask so that it protects the player from being hit and balls traveling between 80 and 100 miles per hour at times. This is one of the most important equipments which anyone can use during a polo game. It is an absolute compulsory must. Thank you.
