In polo, one important aspect is the horse's stirrups, which are connected and fixed to the horse's mouth and neck. Find out how a rider is able to use stirrups to move a horse right or left with help from the secretary of a polo club in this free video on polo stirrups.
Hi I am Cyrus Confectioner, secretary of Calcutta Polo Club, one of the oldest polo clubs in the world. Of course one very important aspect are the stirrups on the horse. The stirrups, which are connected fixed to the horses mouth, and the neck are held by the rider, because with the stirrups he is able to move the horse right, left, slow it down or release it to let him gallop. The addition of stirrups came around five hundred years later, and are thought to have been invented by the nomadic tribes of China. Stirrups are used by the rider to put their feet into, and attached to the tree of the saddle on each side. The purpose to offer the rider more stability when riding. The stirrup as we were talking about one of the very important aspects, because it is basically like the steering wheel on a car. The stirrup is made out of quality leather, and that is used by the rider, by the polo player to manipulate the horse to slow it down, to make it go fast, to make it go right, to make it go left. These stirrups are generally made from very good quality leather. Thank you.

REINS, REINS, REINS!!!!! Dude, you are talking about REINS not STIRRUPS. You put your FEET in STIRRUPS, your HANDS hold the REINS.
Gotta wonder what the rest of the polo vids are like, but I don't have the time!
