Hi! I'm Tim Wigren, owner and operator of Command Performance. I'm here to talk about some misconceptions and myths about the Arabian breed. Many people feel that the Arabian breed is the small horse, the flighty horse or you hear people even say, the dinghy horse. Well, let's dispel some of those myths. First of all, the average size of an Arabian horse is now 15 two hands. Also, there are many different aspects of Arabian breeding from horses who are bred to be very hot in the race world, to horses who are bred for western pleasure and youth riders. Many people don't realize that as a youth horse in the Arabian horse market, the market is approximately 18 percent. Whereas in the Arabian or in the American quarter horse market, it represents only 10 percent of the market. Also, another misconception is that the Arabian breed is a flighty breed of horse. While there are some horses who are bred to be hot and bred to be very very athletic, there are many who are bred to be extremely quiet, they excel in the dressage world, in the jumping world and in the western pleasure world. Also, ranchers and working cow horse world, has found that the Arabian horse breed has very very good stamina, athleticism and they're trainable, they're tractable and they want to do their job. Their willing attitude is second to none. Their disposition leaves them as a horse for whom everyone, once they start working with them figures out their horse it's capable of doing the job.
