Paddock riding boots can be paired with half chaps to get the look and protection of a tall boot without the expense. Discover the benefits of fitting half chaps to short boots with help from the owner of an English tack store in this video on horse supplies.
Hi, I'm Tori Johnson with The Leading Rein and today we're going to talk about how to fit the different types of riding boots. I have Egan here, we're going to try on paddock boots. Paddock boots are a short boot and they have a large heel on them and they have a flexible sole so you can fit your heel down in them. These particular ones zip just for easy on and off. Thank you.. You're welcome. A lot of times if you're not going to wear tall boots, you wear something called a half chap. It looks very much like a tall boot, but it just goes on and off and you can still compete in these most of the time. So, these go under your boot and attach there, like a stirrup and then in the back, and then you have the look of a tall boot and you still get the protection of a boot as well but you don't have the expense or the trouble trying to get a tall boot fit. And those are half chaps.
