English bridles are made in varying sizes, such as pony, cob, average and oversized. Choose the right bridle size for a particular breed with help from the owner of an English tack store in this video on horse supplies.
Hi I am Tori Johnson with The Leading Rein, and we are going to talk a little bit about how to pick out an English bridle. Bridles come in a variety of sizes. The come in pony, which is very small like this one for your pony or your very small horse. The next size up would be a cob size. And a cob size is a small to average size horse. The actual cheek pieces, which you would attach your bit to are shorter, and the nose band or cavesson is also much smaller. So for your different smaller breed horses this would be an excellent choice. The next size up in bridles would be just a regular horse size bridle. The cheek pieces are a little bit longer than the cob, but they are what people would consider an average size horse. And the nose band would be a little bit bigger to accommodate that. And the last size would be an oversized. This would fit your very large horses like your warm bloods or your draft breeds. It has a very long cheek piece, because their face is longer so you would need the bit to hang a little bit lower, and it has a very large nose band to accommodate the large size of their head.
