Western headstalls for horses can have brow bands, throat latches or ear slots, depending on how much bridle the rider wishes to have on his horse. Choose the right Western headstall for your horse with help from the owner of an English tack store in this video on horse supplies.
Hi I am Tori Johnson with The Leading Rein, and today we are just going to go over some differences in western headstalls. A normal western headstall has a browband, but it has no noseband, and it just has a throat lash. And you would attach your bit down here, and you would retie these. Another type of western headstall is the one ear headstall. You would just put the one ear through here. It has no throat latch, and no browband, and you would just attach your bit to there. A lot of people like that if they don't like a lot of different things on their horses head. This way you still a way to put your bit, and hold your reins without over doing it or having too much on your horses face. This is also a different kind of western headstall. It is called a slot ear headstall, and you can put either ear in it. But it is just a very simple piece of leather. Your bit and your reins would go there, and that is really that goes all that goes on your horses head. Just very simple, very classic for the no fuss kind of person.
