Hi, I'm Terry Carter of Saddlebrook Stables in Castle Hayne, North Carolina, and I'm going to talk to you today about some rules and regulations of barrel racing. Once you cross the time line into the barrel pattern, you cannot cross back over the time line until your pattern is finished. If you cross back over the time line before your pattern is finished, it is considered a disqualification. You also have to run the required pattern for that particular class. If you are off pattern, or run a different pattern, then you are also disqualified. If you knock over a barrel within the pattern, then you are given a five second penalty added to your time, so it's wise not to knock over any barrels in your barrel pattern. If you have faulty equipment or tack, usually they will not let you rerun a pattern, so it is very important to make sure that none of your tack is dry-rotted, and that you don't have any kinds of breaks or equipment failures. Also, too, that can result in an accident. Also, if you have timing equipment failure, usually the show will let you rerun your pattern. And these are some rules and regulations of barrel racing.
