Making sure your horse is giving to the bit well is very important because it means your horse is soft and supple in the mouth. Be sure your horse is giving to the bit well with help from a horseback riding instructor in this video on horse jumping.
Oh wow... well I'm not an "expert" but that is really, really BAD advice. You don't have to be an "expert" to know that you should NEVER, NEVER leave your horse in a bit overnight, even a rubber snaffle bit. That is extremely dangerous for the horse as there is no way to be 100% certain that the horse will not seriously injure itself. No matter how careful you are, no matter how diligent you check out your horse's stall, there is always the possibility that there is something in the stall somewhere that the headstall/bit could get caught on and cause serious trauma/injury to your horse if they panic. I live in NC not far from Castly Hayne. I won't be taking lessons at this barn or from this "expert." I expect my trainer/coach to always put the safety and well being of my horse as a top priority and take all the time necessary to properly train me and my horse and not use shortcuts like this. This really concerns me.
