Hi I'm Tim Wigren, owner and operator here at Command Performance in Ridgefield, Washington and I'm here to discuss with you how to select a good Pinto breeder. Depending on your likes, your needs and what qualities you want in your future Pinto your choices for a Pinto breeder are as varied as the breed itself. If you are looking for a horse that is specifically going to meet one demand you may have to select a breeder who is specifically in the breed type you like. If you are a person who is wanting a horse with multiple demands and multiple seats, multiple uses, then you would have to look for a breeder who is going to be accommodating. For example a person who is looking for a cutting horse, a reining horse will specifically be looking for a breeder with cutting horse background, cutting horse pedigree and breeding horses that would accommodate that. A person who is looking for a saddle type horse would be looking for somebody who is possibly a saddle bred breeder or a high trotting performance breeder. They would have the background and the knowledge of pedigrees to be able to enhance your Pinto's performance. If you were looking for someone to be along the lines of a pony you would want to be contacting the people who are very predominant in the pony industry, Hackney ponies, small ponies, Shetland ponies or even the miniatures. If you want to enhance your pleasure type horse you may be looking for a breeder such as a predominant Arab breeder or a Morgan breeder who can also bring in the qualities of their breed to the Pinto horse that you would like to select and in closing a couple of other qualities you want to look for when you are breeding your Pinto, make certain you are breeding from a good reputable breeder, make certain that you are looking at a good reputable stallion and/or a good reputable mare. What is also the marketing plan? Are the breeders going to be helping you? Are they going to be breeders who will stand behind the quality of their work? Are they breeders who are proud of their facility? Are they breeders who are proud of the horses they produce? These are questions you want to be asking long before you ever breed your Pinto.
