There are several professional horseback riding facilities throughout the country that can be found in your phone book or through your local feed stores. Find a great horseback riding facility for beginners with the help of a Certified Horsemanship Association instructor in this video on beginning horseback riding.
Hi my name is Maryjo Turnbull and I'm here at Silver Buckle Ranch in Brush Prairie, Washington and I wanted to talk to you today about where to take beginner horsemanship lessons. There are a lot of professional facilities throughout the country. You're going to want to look in your phone book or your local feed stores and see what local facilities are available to you. You're looking for a barn that offers schooling horses meaning they already provide the horse and the tack. You would want to call and set up a tour and arrange a time to talk with the instructor or the owner of the facility, come out and the things you would want to look for is a clean, well organized facility. You want the horses to look healthy and happy. You would want to spend some time talking to your instructor to see what their philosophies are and goals are in teaching classes and then take some time to observe the class. From there you can sign up for a trial lesson and see if your child is really interested, if they really like what they want to do before you commit to a long term investment of riding lessons. But again you would really want to take some time to tour some different facilities and find the facility that best fits your needs.
