Lyndsey Jordan and Bueno King Dude in the final individual competition of the Young Rider Championship.
Alis Carbone was born on July 8, 1988 in Gig Harbor, Washington. She attended Gig Harbor High School and is now a Communications Major at the University of Washington, Tacoma Campus. Aside from riding and teaching lessons she enjoys staying in shape, wakeboarding, and snowboarding.
Alis' mount, Navarro, is a 14 year old Dutch Warmblood gelding out of Inspekteur. She started riding Navarro about 3 years ago. At the time he was almost unrideable but, regardless, Alis never disliked riding him and always believed he was something special.
In 2007 Alis took him out and showed him at 1st and 2nd level after a long winter of getting to know each other and bonding. In 2008 she took him out as a 3rd level horse. The push to making this years young rider team from a 3rd level horse was a hard one, but Navarro took it all in stride.
Now in 2009 they are off to Young Riders as a very green, but very determined and grateful pair. They are grateful for the opportunity to be representing Region 6 and Alis is forever grateful to Navarro's owner Heather Beaulieu for giving her the opportunity to ride such an amazing and talented horse as well as for all her support on this journey.
Jacob Fletcher will be a Sophomore at North Little Rock High School in the Fall. He lives with his parents, Chris and Lisa, and two brothers, Sam (age 12) and Adam (age 10).
Jacob's accomplishments include:
Jacob will be on Falcon Splash who has gone up the levels through Advanced with Boyd Martin and Phillip Dutton. Falcon Splash is by Falcon Jigsaw and, like all Jigsaw's line, he has a super jumping technique. Jacob and Falcon have reached their goal of going to the NAJYRC this year and they hope to represent Area V successfully in Kentucky.
Karl Cook graduated from Menlo School in Atherton, CA in June '09. He is a world-class champion junior equestrian after riding just nine years, starting at age 8. He will be attending the University of Santa Clara this fall in Santa Clara, CA.
At 17, he has already won the $50,000 World Cup class at the Oaks Horse Show and was the Top Junior Rider in California in 2007 and 2008. Other equestrian show jumping accomplishments include:
Karl attributes his success to his trainer's training him the right way, his parents supporting him, and luck. Karl's trainers are Butch, Lu and Guy Thomas (Guy is the son of Butch and Lu) and he keeps his horses at the Woodside Horse Park in Woodside, CA. Karl loves "the intangible connection I get with the horse when I land off the last fence and I know both the horse and I put out a really good effort. I love that feeling I have that I have done something well."
Karl's senior project involved leading a team of 4 other boys to design and build a 3 story treehouse. Karl is an avid wildlife and landscape photographer and has attended two workshops with Franz Lanting in Santa Cruz, CA.
21 year old Lyndsey Caitlin Jordan was born on Feb. 20, 1988, in Georgetown, KY and is the daughter of Harold and Becky Jordan. Lyndsey is a senior at Auburn University in Auburn, AL. majoring in Communication. Lyndsey has ridden horses all of her life and has shown reining horses for 11 years.

This year Lyndsey slid and spun her way to the 2009 NRHA Collegiate Reining Championship, and her strong effort at the Adequan®/USEF National Youth Reining Championship was equally impressive, earning the Gold medal in the 19-21 age division. Riding Sailin CD owned by her mother, Rebecca Jordan, Jordan scored an impressive 216 to claim the top of the medals podium.
At Young Riders she is riding Bueno King Dude, he is a 15 year old palomino gelding who has been show for quite some time. He has taken many rookie and green riders to championships and is a great show horse. "Scotty", as she calls him, belongs to Lyndsey's mom and she has recently started to show him in the amateur classes. Lyndsey and Scotty are paired up for the first time for the 2009 Young Rider Championships.
